Gail Johnson, M.S in Mental Health
Certified Neurotherapist

Gail Johnson has her Master of Science degree in Mental Health Counseling from Chestnut Hill College in Pennsylvania. Under the direction of Dr. Merlyn Hurd at New York Neurofeedback, she meets with clients, conducts in-take surveys, performs QEEG brain mapping/analyses and strategizes and implements treatment plans and protocols.

Gail has been a neurotherapist for over ten years and is a member of the American Psychological Association (APA), the International Society of Neurofeedback and Research (ISNR), and the American Association of Applied Psychological and Biofeedback (AAPB).

Of the many conditions addressed at NY Neurofeedback, Gail is especially interested in concussion, traumatic brain injury, and post-Lyme disease recovery. She also has an ardent interest in working with youth and teenagers and the issues created by the developing adolescent brain.

While there is a common denominator to how we approach life and its challenges, every human being is unique. Acknowledging and treating clients in this differentiated way, shining a light on their strengths and abilities, is what makes her approach a most effective one. It is the foundation upon which she designs healing strategies.

Understanding the importance of connecting with family and friends to nourish one’s spirit, Gail spends weekends refueling in rural Pennsylvania. She is an avid reader and finds great joy in the universal language of music

Jordan Hirshon, B.S in Psychology

Jordan has a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in biology. She is currently enrolled in a master’s program at Yeshiva University studying mental health counseling and will soon be a licensed Mental Health Counselor in New York state.

Jordan has been working towards becoming a neurotherapist under the supervision of Dr. Merlyn Hurd for 6 years. Prior to this, she saw Dr. Hurd for treatment of migraines and OCD (motor-tics being the most prominent and disruptive symptom). After receiving successful neurofeedback treatment, she was inspired to pursue a career in this field. Upon completing her undergraduate degree, she begn learning from Dr. Hurd the ins-and-outs of QEEG; how to obtain and interpret QEEG brain maps, which neurofeedback instrument to choose based on someone’s QEEG, and how to create individual treatment plans and protocols.

Jordan has a deep-rooted interest in working with children who struggle with inner peace. “Above all else, our bodies are our homes. Our mind, its’ keeper. I don’t want to deny a child the right to mental health; the right to a peaceful home for any reason. One of my goals in this field is finding a way to ensure neurotherapists are paid 100% of their fee without having to turn away clients. Mental health is a right, and it is worth fighting for”. She has a great interest in the use of various tDCS/tACS/tRNS/pEMF protocols in conjunction with 19-channel training to help those seeking neurofeedback treatment.

When not working, Jordan enjoys spending time outside. Skiing in the winter and hiking in the summer. She can often be found at the gym, with friends, and reading about new ways to innovate various neurotherapies. Eventually she would like to have a practice that incorporates wellness of both the mind and body. She looks to achieve this goal by working with other professionals who share a similar vision, and will go great lengths to see that each person who enters the doors to this practice will exit them better off than when they entered.

“Of all the forms of inequality, injustice in health care is the most shocking and inhumane.”
