With a PH.D in Psychology and proven leadership capabilities in diverse organizational positions and settings, my career has centered on the motivation, direction and guidance of people at all levels of sophistication. A licensed psychologist, I offer valuable experience as an administrator, clinician, writer, trainer, consultant, and a project planner and manager.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

1982-Present:  Private Psychologist
Provide Cognitive-Behavior therapy to children and adults.  Specialize in treating clients with dissociative/phobic disorders; depression, anxiety and stress issues and relationship enhancement.  Work extensively with professionals, especially women managers, performing artists and children.  Employ special skills in use of Biofeedback for stress management and Neurotherapy for ADD/ADHD, epilepsy and closed head injuries.  Am Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist; Certified Biofeedback and Neurotherapy Therapist and trained in Brain-Mapping, interpretation, diagnosis, and treatment planning.

1983-1989:  Director of Health, Nutrition and Mental Health       
(retired 9/19/89)  New York City Agency for Child Development/Head Start – 30 Main Street, Brooklyn, New York 11201.
Directed, evaluated, trained operational program staff; clarified regulations, conducted studies to provide supportive evidence for decisions of administrative and policy import.  Supervised professional and paraprofessional staff for approximately 16,000 preschool children in New York City in areas of mental health.
 
1976-1983:  Coordinator of Services to the Handicapped                    
Agency for Child Development/Head Start
Directed, evaluated and trained staff in 70 contracted agencies serving 9,000 children (3-4 year olds) regarding:
Identifying, referring, planning treatment and monitoring treatment for all children with disabilities.
 
1975-1980:  In conjunction with the above
Functioned as the Project Manager of the Hunt’s Point Multi-Service Parent-Child (infant) program.
Provided on-site psychological consultation services to abused children and their parents. Managed the Board of Estimate submissions, provided programmatic analysis, consultation, training and fiscal managerial analysis.
 
1975-1976:  Research Consultant to Super Grantee Effort
(D/HHS project employing New York City Head Start Programs.)

Evaluated programmatic and management Self-Assessment Validation Instrument (SAVI) data for consistency, item reliability and test validity.
 
1972-1975:  Early Childhood Education Consultant
Agency for Child Development, 240 Church Street, NYC, NY
Functioned as organizational developer with expertise in communication skills, and in multicultural/multilingual programming.   Planned/conducted sessions in group dynamics, attitudinal change, interpersonal problem solving, etc.  Identified organizational issues, problems and needs; provided training technical assistance to staff, policy makers, and parents on early childhood and bilingual programming.   Inspected Day Care administrative and educational operations, wrote summary analysis for the Department of Health licensing unit.
 
1971-1972:  Director of Special Projects
Agency for Child Development/Head Start, 240 Church Street, NYC, NY
Directed, evaluated and trained staff in implementing a pilot multi-cultural/multi-lingual education program in twelve Day Care and Head Start programs.  Developed instructional materials in bilingual programming and functioned as the over-sight manager of an eighteen hours (18) college credit training series implemented by Queens College and Yeshiva University.  Developed and coordinated the joint Head Start/Board of Education Conference attended by 3,000 participants over a two day period at Columbia University.
 
1970-1971:  Director of Volunteer Services
Community Development Agency/Head Start, 349 Broadway, NYC
Developed service guidelines, curriculums, training manuals, and workshops consistent with Federal legislation.
 
1968-1970:  Associate Director of Parent Involvement
Developed audio-visual training materials illustrating participatory management for parents of Head Start.  Provided parent and staff training on the implementation of D/HHS policies on parent involvement in Head Start (70.2).
 
1965-1967:  Executive Director of Escuela Hispana Montessori and Board Member
Founder (with 4 other couples in 1964) of a parent sponsored bilingual preschool program; provided oversight of program; wrote applications, evaluated program yearly; taught in the classroom when needed.
 
During the past 25 years  I have availed myself of training offered by leaders in the field of Psychotherpy, Neurotherapy and QEEG .  The cumulative training equals 1009.25 hours of  accredited continuing educational credits .  I have also attended training and seminars for which no CE credits were provided to continue to advance my knowledge.  In addition, I have completed more than  200  hours of individual supervision /consultation/training with Dr. Maurice B. Sterman.
